This post will be short because I am more interested in reading the comments and emails.
If you're a blogger, tell me why you started blogging or what was the inspiration behind your blog? And please leave a link to your page so we can visit.
If you're a reader who doesn't have a blog, please share why you read blogs and what are some characteristics of blogs you enjoy?
These posts are always fun when people share and start conversations in the comments. I'll be sharing my answers soon too!
i started blogging b/c of my blog name...simply chic. the name randomly came to me one night and it fit me and my style perfectly so i ran with it!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing, your blog & style are awesome!
DeleteVett, I started blogging to give myself a voice.. first I have always enjoyed writing ... I had been married and after we separated my ex husband had raped me (sorry to share so much but that is in my blog)... I lost myself and a year after that I started writing... No body but a couple of people read it for years... then when social media became more popular I stared sharing more... I could not imagine my life without writing and blogging now.
ReplyDeleteI love to read blogs, I read all types... my most favorite is blogs that share their hearts by poetry or stories of their lives... I feel touched by them. However; I really like funny blogs and uplifting ones... the list goes on... I am grateful to have found this platform :)
Launna, thanks so much for sharing -- it's amazing how you turned such a negative situation into a positive perspective. I love reading your stories and your writing because it's open and honest.

so glad you found a positive outlet! keep blogging and enjoying your life!
DeleteI started blogging because I like to write and I discovered a platform where I could freely express myself and share certain aspects of my life with the "world". I'm can't quite recall who or what inspired me to start a blog, but I'm thankful for the spark. Since then, it's obviously become much bigger than it was in 2009, but my reasons for blogging haven't changed much. It's one of the few things I've always done/will continue to do, simply because it makes me happy.

that's so awesome that blogging brings you so much happiness. Natural writers will always write, but it's really special when you're willing to share your writing with the world. Keep it up girl!
DeleteI started blogging because I enjoy writing and I wanted to share my college experience with others. Nearly three years later, I'm thankful I have an archive of all the fun times to flip through!

I started for similar reasons, and it's awesome to see how many college students are helped by blog posts!
DeleteI love these type "conversational" posts! x
ReplyDeleteI blog because I like to have a voice, I want to inspire and motivate people. I want to be someone that people would look to for advice, and I like to share my opinion on things. I enjoy reading beauty blogs because they can be so helpful and so if I really like a product I would like to rave about it on my blog.
I also would love to blog as a full time job, I am a little jealous of those full time bloggers.
So yea basically I like being my own boss of my content, writing about things and being imaginative.
xx

I love them too! Blogs really do inspire and motivate people bc it puts a person behind the words. Beauty blogs are really fun and offer great advice!
DeleteI blog because I have something to say. I'm not very vocal in person, it's much easier for me to write. My words flow and I have to opportunity to obsess over them and edit before sharing (versus real conversation).
ReplyDeleteI read blogs because I'm truly interested. I like to read about people's lives. I read fashion sometimes but I prefer when real life is mixed in.
that's awesome, I love writing too!
DeleteI was tired of seeing the same old things on Tumblr, so when a friend made a Tumblr network to help people start lifestyle blogs, I joined! I was interested in creating my own content and adding to the creative community instead of just passing it on. It was also an attempt to keep a journal :) -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's
ReplyDeletethat's great you created your own content! :)
DeleteI started blogging two years ago when I was finished school and spent the summer unemployed and needed a creative outlet in between applying for jobs. I fell in love with it and decided to continue it long after I became employed.

this is definitely a great creative outlet, Alex!
DeleteI started blogging while I was studying for the bar because I needed an outlet to release stress! After that was over it became such a therapeutic thing to do that I continued. I love reading and getting other ideas from other bloggers and its a great outlet! http://change30venue.blogspot.com is my current blog! :)
ReplyDeleteblogging is definitely a great break from studying - love the honesty of your blog!
DeleteI started blogging because I love to write. That's really it!! That I could write AND share was amazing. I enjoy reading mostly lifestyle blogs and mostly blogs that are 'real' and not necessarily like a slick magazine. I like reading about people and their stories.
ReplyDeleteawesome, and you are a great writer!!
DeleteYears ago, I stumbled upon a few blogs that I really enjoyed and I was immediately hooked. I found blogs that focused on home décor, recipes, diy projects, fashion, traveling, you name it. After reading various blogs for about a year, I decided to start my own. My blog still isn't nearly as cool as some of the awesome ones that I read, but I find that I really enjoy putting up new posts weekly. I also love that I've 'met' so many wonderful people along the way... :)
ReplyDeleteit's great to find good blogs with content you enjoy!! :)
DeleteI like reading blogs because it's so interesting to see other people's lives. I don't remember when/why I started. I started blogging to be part of a community. I've stopped though because my employer has a restrictive employee social media use policy and I didn't want to run afoul of that.
ReplyDeletethat makes sense, and at least you can still read blogs! :)
