#NoHeatDecember {natural hair}

Happy December! Just one month left in this fabulous year and I'm kicking it off with a challenge... #NoHeatDecember. This hair challenge came to life through a Twitter convo between with my friends Jade and Jasmine, who also have natural hair.

As much as I love wearing my hair straight, I've started loving wearing it natural too. I feel like a different version of myself, in a good way.  I have been just doing a wash-and-go, but I'm sure I'll start seeking new styles by next week.

We all understand how damaging heat can be for hair, how our hair does better without heat, and that taking a break from using hot tools (blow dryers, flat irons, hot rollers, etc.) is a good idea.

So, we're doing it. #NoHeatDecember starts today and ends December 31, although I'm going to try and last until my birthday in January.

We would love for you to join us…just tweet or Instagram using #NoHeatDecember. Challenges are always more fun when others join, and it's for a healthy cause :) Even if you only do it for a few days, a week, or a few weeks, join in!

If you're a blogger and joining the challenge, leave a comment and I'll add you to the list of participants below and link it to your blog:

  1. I don't know about this! YOUR hair is beautiful all natural...MY hair is a frizzed out pathetic mess. No blow drying/straightening at all? For the whole month?
    Can I at least fix it at Christmas?
    OMG I'm so vain I can't believe I just went there, LOLOL...let me think about it!

  2. YAY, no heat is totally the way to go particularly when you are trying to grow your hair. I went without heat for a few months before it was pretty crazy. Now if I can go 2 weeks without it I consider it great success :). I am like you, I like straight hair.

    Good luck with your challenge

  5. Your hair looks great both ways! I love the idea of this challenge! I think I would be curled up in the corner after two weeks if I couldn't use a hair dryer; I have naturally curly and it can get out of control!

  7. What a good idea! I would try something similar, but I just look like a drowned rat without using my hairdryer and straightners!

    Hmm maybe...

  8. I love your hair both ways!

    You dolls must have been reading my mind. My hair is damaged and I've given up relaxer since October 31st in hopes of transitioning to natural hair (I'm afraid to do the big chop). I'm between weaving and braiding for right now so technically, I'm doing this no heat thing as well! So cool!

  9. I absolutely love it when you wear your hair in its natural curly state! You're so beautiful and it's great that you're giving your hair a heat break. I haven't applied heat to my hair since I got it cut in August, I had to sit underneath a dryer while the color set. Anyway, can't wait to see the styles you come up with because your hair is long! I think it's beautiful either way

  10. I'll join your no heat challenge with one exception, since I live in Maine, I'll use a blow dryer to dry my hair if it's below 20 degrees since that's too cold to go out with wet hair.

  12. Yay, I'm so glad someone is doing a 'no heat' challenge for the end of the year. After about a year of heat straightening, I started my no heat regimen in October. Unfortunately, I fell off in early November. :( I'm in!!! #NoheatDecember
