21 questions...answered

I've been wanting to do one of these "fun facts" about me/ answering viewer questions posts for a while and I've finally picked some questions to answer. This week is insanely busy (in a good way). I'm working on some really exciting projects, collaborations, and doing work for my company. Eek, lots of exciting things going on, outside of my job at the Capitol that I will share as soon as I can!

So here goes…!

1. How long have you been blogging?

I started blogging last summer (2012) so I've been blogging for about 1.5 years and I love it! Definitely didn't expect so many people to read my blog in such a short period of time.

2. How did you come up with your blog concept?

I love Atlanta the way many people love NYC and I wanted my blog to share the incredible people and places of ATL. At the same time, I wanted a reason to explore my city. At the same time, I started my blog to share tips with other college students. My blog is a combination of my life as a college student (now future grad student) and my life living in Atlanta. It's also my creative and personal outlet for writing and designing while documenting my life.

3. Favorite color? Favorite color to wear?

Yellow. Black (or any neutrals, with a pop of color).

4. Do you post on your blog every day?

Typically, I do post every day because I have something to share every day. But if I don't have anything to share, I'm too busy, or I want to take a break and enjoy the real world without blogging about it…then I may skip a day.

5. How much is a good idea to share on your blog?

Great question. That's up to the blogger. For me, I only share what I feel comfortable sharing while still being my genuine self on my blog. This blog has become a public display of my life, but it's also a collection of my personal thoughts/struggles/achievements and is basically my diary.

My close friends and family are all okay with being shown and discussed on my blog.

I don't plan on sharing my romantic (boy life) on the blog, but you may see a few subtle photos every now and then ;)

I always keep in mind that anyone has the ability to see my blog, my photos, my words. And I never post something I wouldn't want my employer, my family, or my future kids to see! Ha, good way to think about how much is OK to share.

6. Type A or Type B?

Type A, but I know how to be chill also. Going to college with lots of Type B people and learning that things don't have to always be perfect..that aiming for perfection isn't a healthy way to live…and that being too Type A is bad for your health!…helped me to relax my perfectionism. So, I'm Type A-ish.

7. Do you eat clean every meal of every day?

No :) I think that's a little ridiculous, especially living in a city like Atlanta with amazing restaurants everywhere. I eat a clean meal at least twice a day Monday-Friday. On Saturday and Sunday I eat what I want really, but in moderation. However, my weekend meals have gotten healthier since I started eating clean because eating processed foods isn't even as fun anymore.

8. How would you describe your style?

Southern-city + vintage + professional preppy with an edge. (I wear what I want.)

9. Dream job(s)?

White House Press Secretary. Food photographer/taste tester. Vogue Editor.

10. Best advice for a college student who wants to write a book and/or start their own business too?

Make a plan. Stick to that plan. Write often. Read often. Be willing to make mistakes and fail. Believe that you will eventually succeed.

11. Favorite class in college?

Risk Communications - emergency communications is really interesting and I learned how the USA handles disasters.

12. Favorite food(s)?

Mac & Cheese. Salmon. Brussel Sprouts. Sweet Tea. Fried Green Tomatoes.

13. Favorite place to shop?

J. Crew & Urban Outfitters

14. A hint on a project you're working on?

…it's wearable! And I hope you love it! :)

15. Do you sleep?

I sleep SO much. Going to a challenging college like Georgia Tech taught me how to manage my time wisely and I still practice that. I get work done during the day, work for 1-2 hours after work on other projects and blog posts and then relax. I typically go to sleep between 10pm-11pm

16. What motivates you?

Seeing the potential that the people, places, and things around me have to be great and wanting to be involved in the transformation of my environment. I've been blessed to have supportive family members and friends who support my dreams, business, and ideas. I am motivated by those people and motivated by the people who I have not met yet but want to positively impact.

17. What countries have you been to?

U.S.A., Spain, Italy, England, France, Canada, Mexico

18. What did you do to apply for college and grad school?

I'm working on a great post to share tips for applying and interviewing for schools!

19. Do you speak any other languages?

I minored in Spanish and although I'm not as fluent as I was when I lived in Spain, I can understand very well and read it well. I need to practice my speaking more!

20. Would you ever be a full-time blogger?

I don't think so. My blog is definitely a business because of readership, sponsors, partnerships, etc. but I want to do more in life than blog. I love communications in general (writing, reading, designing, photography), so that is what my business will include. Blogging + more as my full-time job.

21. What's your Myers-Briggs personality type?

INFJ, and proud of it!

Thanks for the emails and comments with great questions, hope you learned something new about me!

Do we have anything in common?

  1. My brother took Spanish courses in college, and he said he had two teachers. One was a American lady who learned it as a 2nd language. Then the other guy was from Spain. Apparently the 2nd teacher was a bit harder to understand.

  11. I wish that I was as displicined as you are about sleep. I've been living on 4-5 hours for years now. I probably wouldn't know what to do with a 7-8 hour night of rest. It was great getting to know more about you chica!
